Midway School Counseling Program Philosophy Statement
In order to function successfully in today's society, students need to grow in the sense of self-worth and enhanced positive attitudes. To facilitate this growth, the activities and services provided through the counseling program will be developmentally-based, sequential and preventative. The program, implemented during the school year, serves all students and is part of the educational process. A comprehensive program requires the cooperative effort of counselors, teachers, administrators, support staff, parents and community.
Midway School Counseling Program Mission Statement
The Midway School Counseling Program is an integral part of the educational mission for Midway Public Schools. Adopted as a comprehensive developmental program; the academic, career and personal/social development of all our students, at all grade levels, are an educationally integrated focus aligned with the Midway Public School Philosophy and objectives. While assisting students in acquiring and using life-long learning skills, the program also employs strategies to enhance academics, encourage self-reliance, foster effective communication skills and promote sound character and citizenship. The counselor provides confidential individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, developmental programs, referral services and workshops, as well as provides resources for career and educational planning.
